Itinerary: | |||||||
If you sign up please DO answer the relevant questions in the notes sections of the sign up page. This is a great ride with little traffic on almost all of the route. There are only two very short sections with a fare amount of traffic. In fact, in some places we saw more bicyclists than cars! There are a couple of hills but nothing too hard. We will meet at Union Station at the GO ticket wickets in the lower level - near Bay Street, at 9:50am about 20 minutes before the train leaves. We will buy return tickets and use the elevator to get our bikes to the platform. Ideally, there should only be a maximum of 4 bikes to a carriage, two at each end. Bikes are places behind and in front of the 2 vertical steel poles, next to the seats as you walk in the door. Please allow passengers to get on board first. After a 30 minute train ride we will disembark at the Rouge Hill station If you would like, you can meet us at Rouge Hill GO Station at 10:40 am We will ride north through eastern Scarborough to Markham, up Reesor Rd, by the farm gate of my grandparents’ former farm to Stouffville Main St, where we will have lunch in a restaurant. We will then retrace our route back to the Rouge Hill GO station. On the way, if the group wants we can detour into the "New Urban" development called Cornell. We will probably catch the 5:07 or the 6:07 pm train back to Union station. If we have time an the inclination we can explore the nearby Rouge beach on Lake Ontario. Those who want can go to dinner/coffee/drinks once back in Toronto In the notes section of the sign up, please indicate whether you will meet us at Union or Rouge Hill Station. If you have not ridden with me before, you MUST answer the following questions in the notes sections of the sign up page: 1. Do you agree to wear a bicycle helmet? 2. Are you experienced, comfortable, and safe riding in traffic i.e. with automobiles? 3. Are you able to bring a spare tube for your bicycle? 4. Does your bicycle fit you properly? 5. Is your bicycle in decent shape ie no rusty chain, working brakes etc? | |||||||
