They're calling for rain on the weekend... But who cares? The Ontario Science Centre is turning 40 on Saturday, and they're inviting us to celebrate with them by hosting a free day! Free film, cupcakes, and a great contest are all part of the fun activities they have planned for the day. Click here for their website. Since this day is free to everyone, it will likely be very busy, and we might have to adjust our activities according to what is available to us. We'll be attending activities as a group. Depending on the weather and crowds, we'll meet either just inside or outside the doors. Look for me with a TOC sign. The tentative timeline will be: 10:30 AM meet 11:00 AM Imax film 11:30 AM cupcakes! 12:00 - 1:30 Go to the 40 highlighted experiences to decode the birthday message for a chance to win free memberships, membership extensions or pairs of VIP passes to BODY WORLDS & The Story of the Heart. 1:30 - ?: Those who wish to stay can take part in the BBQ. To commemorate the year they opened, 1969, they're offering hamburgers, hotdogs and juice for only 69 cents each. We may also browse the gift shop. Note 1: There is no carpool for this event, TTC is readily available. See directions, below. Note 2: If you do decide to drive, be WARNED that the line ups for the OSC parking lots may be very busy, and may add time to your trip. Expect to be waiting at least 15 minutes just to park, then another 5 minute walk to the centre. Factor this into your trip time so that you still meet at the doors at 10:30. Also, bring $8 cash to pay for parking. Note 3: The finish time is estimated. 90 minutes might not be enough time to quickly visit the 40 "experiences" needed to enter the contest. You may leave earlier if you wish, but only those who stay to the end will be entered into the contest. | |||||
