Itinerary: | |||||||
We will meet at Union Station at the GO ticket wickets in the lower level, at 9:50am about 20 minutes before the train leaves. We will buy return tickets and use the elevator to get our bikes to the platform. Ideally, there should only be a maximum of 2 bikes to a carriage, one at each end but I reckon we could get 4 in at a pinch. Bikes are places behind the 2 vertical steel poles, next to the seats as you walk in the door. Please allow passengers to get on board first. After a 30 minute train ride we will disembark at the Rouge Hill station
We will ride north through eastern Scarborough to Markham, up Reesor Rd, by the farm gate of my grandparents’ farm to Stouffville Main St, where we will look for a restaurant in which to have lunch. We will then retrace our route back to the Rouge Hill GO station. We will probably catch the 3:07 pm, 4:07 pm, or maybe even the 5:07 pm train back to Union station. If we have time an the inclination we can explore the nearby beach on Lake Ontario. Please note for much of this trip we will ride on roads and ride in traffic. This is why the trip is rated as D4.
If you want to come, you MUST answer the following questions in the notes sections of the sign up page: 1. Do you agree to wear a bicycle helmet? 2. Are you experienced, comfortable, and safe riding in traffic i.e. with automobiles? 3. Are you able to bring a spare tube for your bicycle? 4. Does your bicycle fit you well? 5. Is your bicycle mechanically sound?
