Write Up:
Ontario was hit by a kick-ass storm Friday night, so after eventually escaping the urban hell that is #401 traffic during any kind of even mildly inclement weather, we caught up to the line of plows maintaining a steady 40kph around Trenton. A short rest stop and quick search later found us setting up tents in an underused cornfield. At least this avoided another 3 hours of driving. We slept under the watchful eye of a neighbouring farm family and the buzz emanating from a large transformer station. Honestly, it was a very memorable and quite enjoyable night spent in a tent. We were hammered by heavy snow and sleet, while otherwise it was eerily quiet. Due to the public and exposed nature of our accommodations, we were motivated in the morning and left promptly. The remaining drive out to the west access side of Frontenac was helpfully uneventful. We walked in, prepared our campsite, and spent a beautiful sunny afternoon snowshoeing and skiing around the Tetsmine Lake Loop. Fresh and undisturbed snow blanketed the trees and ground. The winds were calm, and the woods silent. We ate a nice dinner, and had a long evening chat. Then, the next morning, reality returned to interrupt our lives.
