Sat, Mar 3 2007 - Ice Fishing on Lake Simcoe (View Original Event Details)
|
What to say. It's surprising that Michael and Rebecca travel so far for this club, it must be worth it. On this event they drove their car onto frozen lake Simcoe and used the ice as a parking lot. Subaru proved the value of four wheel drive again with no problems while Alex' front wheel drive was promptly stuck in the frozen over snow. So we started a little late, but were eventually pulled onto the lake in a homemade covered sled pulled by a beater Jeep. The huts were warm and comfortable enough for quiet conversation, as the fishing wasn't the best. Each of Linda, Michael, Heather, and Rob managed to catch one. My Old Man was barren of fish (as usual) and Matt E proved his worth by catching 5. Everyone got a new experience, and the answer to that age old question of what, exactly, is a tip-up. We fed the fish some bait, and some of the bait fed us.
