We discovered that the ferry schedule was a bit different than posted, so waited a while at the docks. Once across on the island, we had a slice of pizza and then "geared up" and spent about an hour skating around. Although we didn't go too far in terms of distance, we all felt that we'd progressed just that little bit further towards our goal of being graceful, relaxed skaters. And nobody fell! The paths on the island are not well-lit after dark, so we know that in future this will put a limit on our evening skating time. We'll probably do this on some future weeknights soon, but as the days get shorter, we'll try practice sessions on weekends (whenever we're not busy with other TOC events!). The islands are indeed a great place to skate - nice, quiet, level, smooth paths without cars to worry about. Coming back from the island, we enjoyed a beautiful view of the Toronto skyline at night. Look out for more practice sessions soon!
