The announcement of winter snow conditions did not deter the twelve brave of us from our three hour hike through the Rough River valley. Although there was originally a larger group scheduled to go hiking, the winter conditions caused some to cancel at the last minute; however it was a great day for a hike and the Rouge valley protected us from the elements of nature.

The hike was filled with breathtaking views and beautiful scenery. We even saw some wild Christmas trees, yes, wild Christmas trees, there in the middle of nowhere were several trees decorated with ornaments.

After the hike we braved the 401 for a short journey to a great Chinese buffet dinner at the Imperial Buffet. We were treated with an enjoyable dinner and we were able to spend some time talking and sharing our experiences of the day and getting to know each other a bit better. Rod and Isabelita from the Calgary Outdoor club shared their view of what our lovely city has to offer.
