Itinerary:

We will backpack approx. 10k to the beautiful campsite at Topaz Lake (painted by the Group of Seven). White hills surround the lake which is one of the most beautiful campsites on the La Cloche Silhouette Trail.

From our basecamp at Topaz Lake we will explore the ridges above the lake and the ridges above Baie Fine, which is a 15k-long 'Fjord' leading out to Georgian Bay.

The pace will not necessarily fast but the terrain can be demanding and rough, especially as we will be off trail. Participants must be active TOC members and able to demonstrate fitness and backpacking experience.

We will arrive at Killarney Friday evening and backpack to our basecamp at Topaz Lake Saturday. We will spend the next few days exploring the area and backpack out to the trailhead Monday.

Participants should have basic backpacking gear - lightweight gear - such as a backpack and sleeping bag. Gear such as tents and stoves will be shared in common.

Note that the coordinator has two dogs which may be on this trip. Any participants who wish to bring their dogs must first speak to the co-ordinator.
