Itinerary:

Stir-up Sunday Wikipedia entry is an old British tradition. Originally tied to the Church calendar, it was the last Sunday before Advent. However, it was also traditionally the day on which the Christmas Puddings were made. These required a thick batter loaded with fruit, which was very stiff to stir - the idea was to get friends in to help with the mixing!

Now, I'm not a big Christmas Pudding fan - too heavy - but I do love real mincemeat, a concoction of dried fruits, finely chopped apples, and suet which makes delicious tarts and pies, and which is on every English table at this time of year. So, instead of the Pudding mixture, I plan on having a big pot of mincemeat on hand, which will also require stirring!

To celebrate the first Christmas in my new home, I am extending an invitation to all to come to a Stir-up Sunday Open House.

Since I will have to be at my house to welcome guests, I recommend that anyone who plans to come contact one or more of the other TOCers and arrange your own carpools.
