It was quite cold by the lake, but our group of diehard skaters thumbed our noses at the weather and laced up for a good couple of hours of skating. Most of us were lucky enough to get there early enough that the ice had just been refinished and it wasn't too crowded - El Rey, Natalie and Jason C. arrived later. The music was good (techno/house) and Natrel was offering free hot chocolate (made with milk - yum!). We varied in skill but all seemed to be enjoying the skate. Lillian and Chetan in particular progressed significantly in developing their skating technique during the evening. Kate impressed us by her backwards circles; Julian zoomed around like an expert; and Linda and son Iain showed themselves to be very comfortable on the ice. Afterwards, a few of us retired to the warmth of the Lakeside Eats cafe for drinks and conversation (Jo had to leave due to repercussions of a fall on her last lap around the rink - to those of you who saw me after, all is well as you can see by my writing this today - thanks for your concern). A special welcome to Kim, Fariba and Karen on their first TOC event! We hope to see you out on many more! A reminder to everyone that more skating events are planned - sign up and have a great time!
