Wed, Jan 30 2008 - TOC FUN NIGHT - Pool Tournament 2008-1 (View Original Event Details)

Another fantastic pool tournament. Picking up the mantle form Jason I was honoured to organize it. Thirteen of us arrived to do battle. We split into two groups one competing to see who can show the best pool skill today; the other competing to have the most fun. On the fun side the contest- it was heated and noise at times. So close was the competition, that prizes for having the most fun had to be given to both Linda and Diane. The only lasting scars were the extra laugh lines that were formed. On the other side the competition was wicked. I got to play first against Theresa and was clearly shown that it was not going to be my night. Andrew and Curtis showed they were in the same league as Theresa. The last round featured Andrew head to head with Curtis and Theresa providing Susie with an opportunity to play the spoiler. Susie did not let any sister hood feelings get in her way and succeed in beating Theresa knocking her of the first place pedicle. Curtis rose to the challenge and became our champion. Theresa and Andrew took second place prizes. Not satisfied with that they played to see who had the biggest pool cue. Theresa triumphed to be our official second place finisher. I must confess that my tracking of standing was not very good and that Susie also had a second place record but did not receive a prize. ( I owe here one; trust me Susie the prizes were not that great ). Many of us did not do well. I was getting snookered on the 8 ball continuously at one point. But Tom took the prize for the biggest loser. Not because he was the only one not to win a game but because he was having the most fun with it. At one point during the night I looked around and did not see a single person playing pool they were all passionately engaged in conversation with their opponent. Nobody in this group is going to get the “trash talking” prize was the only thought going through my head. I was honoured to be part of the fun and look forward to the next one. Peter
