Write Up:
Jessie, Marilyn, Nicole, Kate, Cordelia, Dana, and Jim O all met at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts and watched the Soulpepper's production of "Salt-Water Moon" by David French, a Canadian play with a strong Newfoundland connection. It was the first event with the TOC for both Marilyn and Dana. Before getting seated at the theatre, we all chatted in the lobby. After the show, we strolled through the distillery district looking for a place where we could stop at for some food and refreshments. Marilyn and Nicole decided to head home, but the balance of our small gang ended up at the Mill Street Brew Pub, where we were suitably refreshed by drinks and food, and engaged in further conversation, while listening to a local female singer.

This was our first theatre outing of 2008. The show served as a good "outing" for our minds, and in an "outdoor" club, minds are certainly in need of an "outing" every now and then. For our minds, such an "outing" constitutes an opportunity to escape the normal parameters and patterns of their operation. There is more than one way to get outside, more than one way to reach beyond our normal existences: exercising our imaginations in the terrain of literature is one excellent option.
