Write Up:

So for this event we had a bit of a small group for the lesson, which I personally think is better, because if the instructor has less to do then the lesson moves on a bit faster for everyone. The only experienced climbers were Jenny, Kim and me. Jenny and Kim were concerned that they were not going to pass their belay test because they hadn’t climbed for a bit, but they both passed. So off we went to climb while the beginners took their lesson. They both climbed well and I found that Kim was underestimating her own skill a little bit.

I joined in with the beginners as soon as the lesson was done. The pairs were Jenn & Anny, Nelson & Kristine, Vlad & Barry, and Nadia & Lydia. Everyone did well, and most people were seeking more challenging climbs outside of the training area. Special kudos to Vlad: he told me that he had a fear of heights ever since childhood. What a way to face your fears dead on by taking on this event. Anny & Jenn liked it so much that they got the 2 week membership and we hope to see them climbing again soon.

I thank everyone for coming. My next climb is in November and hopefully other volunteers will host other climbs as well.
