The MEC Paddlefest was hosted by MEC in partnership with the City of Toronto, and The Complete Paddler. It was an urban celebration of canoeing, kayaking, and dragon boating. The day featured a range of learning opportunities on water and on land. Interestingly enough it was the land activities that were the coldest – held in the Sunnyside pavillion, they were shaded AND windy. Carolyn and Peter emerged from their first land workshop half-frozen! Stanley had arrived earlier and, when I saw him, was soaking wet with a HUGE grin on his face. He had just finished the "Kayak Play" workshop and gave it rave reviews. I had registered for that workshop but hadn't counted on getting wet so I went to the "Paddling in Ontario" workshop with David instead. Peter learned how to do GPS navigation. Carolyn checked out all of the vendors. David and I ended the day with "Yoga for Paddlers". David received word that he won a $25,00 gift certificate from Taylor's Outdoor Gear Congratulations David!
