Write Up:

It was the first beautiful spring weekend we've had this year and the dogs were out in packs on Cherry Beach! Rocky was happy to see the water again after so many months, but he's not quite ready for swimming yet, although he did the doggie paddle a few times. He spent as much time as possible in the water. Trixie didn't trust this large puddle and wasn't going to be getting anything but her paws wet. The first TOC member who found us was Jessie, out for her her first TOC outing, she didn't have a dog with her, but loves dogs and wanted to see what the TOC is all about. We walked to the end of Cherry Beach and back, and by the time we got back to the main area, we ran into Jo...one of Rocky's many girlfriends. And proving why she's one of his girls, she brought out the scooby snacks! Jessie and Joanna and I were chatting when Milo showed up, with his owner Tania. He was enjoying the ride and the scenary from his specially designed backpack and managed to reflect an air of dignity, and perhaps some disdain towards the other dogs who didn't arrive with as much style and panache. But once unhooked, unbelted and unsnapped from his backpack, he found some other daxies to romp around with. Now that we looked like a crowd that probably knew each other, Russ approached as looking for the TOC and relievet to have found us. He introduced us to Sam, a rare breed of dog, but picked up from a shelter because he didn't have the hips to make it as a hunter. He found his owner Russ, who fixed him up and treated him to months of therapy - they didn't think he'd be able to use his back leg, but Sam was tearing around the beach and in and out of the water - having so much fun at the beach, you'd never know that he'd ever had a problem to begin with.

We took another walk to the end of the beach, and Jessie took her leave of us. We saw Basset Hounds and Daschunds, Wiemeraners, and Great Danes and mutts of every size and colour. And Labs and Labs and Labs with a few Goldens thrown in for good luck.

It was already time for Jim's cycle group to meet, so we saw them all gathered and collected our final member Rob, who just missed us (there are so many dogs and people there, it's hard to know what to look for!) but Stanley didn't mind and had a great time with or without the group. We all chatted for a bit until Jim insisted that his group had better get a move on, so we all went home.
