There were nine people on today's event. The weather cooperated yet again...!! There was rain in the forecast but it didn't rain. We definitely took advantage of this great fall day! It was 16C and cloudy with some sunny breaks. This was actually better for observing salmon.

The Erindale Park - Culham Trail hugged the Credit River most of the time. It made it feel like we were in the country.

We saw salmon swimming upstream on their way to spawn. Coho salmon die after spawning and we saw a lot of evidence of this. There were several people fishing. Two caught salmon and in both cases the salmon jumped in the air trying to get free... and they did. One man was not happy about this at all. :)

On the river we also saw several mallard ducks, in different stages of fall plummage, and one cormorant. The cormorant posed for us, so the we were able to get good pictures...

We saw a chipmunk. After the grey squirrels in Toronto, the chipmunk seems very small. We saw a number of other birds, cardinals, black capped chickadees, turkey vulture and we heard blue jays.

This was a fun day. Next year it would be even better to watch the salmon run in September.

$15.00 was collected in voluntary donations.
