In tonight’s broadcast, CTV News asked “Did you go to the malls today or did you stay home?” Well, six of us did neither. Instead we took the opportunity to go out on an urban hike.
While we waited for all to arrive at Eglinton West Station there was a bit of rain. However, as we began our walk the rain disappeared, the sun even peered through the clouds for a few minutes.
We began on the path through Beltline Park where we saw many joggers, walkers, and made some new canine friends, including a St. Bernard, husky, golden retriever, and chocolate lab. Later on in our travels we also pet a spaniel.
We made our way to Mount Pleasant Cemetery, where all went well until we had a bathroom break. After that we got slightly lost. As we wandered about, we discussed survival strategies we might have to employ, including getting pizza delivered to our location. Luckily, Sue R. saw the Discovery Path sign and we were back on track towards Moore Park Ravine.
The rest of our walk was through a variety of ravines, some of which were muddy. We went down to the Don Valley Brickworks, then back north to St. Clair Avenue.
To end our hike, we went to Passione Italiana, located on Yonge Street. There we learned that when in an Italian restaurant, it is best to order Italian food. As we parted ways, we wished each other a happy new year and promised to see each other on other TOC events.
Thanks to everyone who came; you made my first attempt at coordinating an event a success!
