Despite the rain we had a great turnout. The rain had basically turned to a slight mist and we hardly noticed. We had a wide variety of skating styles, from the speedy agile Chuck, who attempted to teach Sue how to skate backwards - not sure if it worked - to a great many of us who manage to get around the rink and not look "too" bad...I had a lot of skating partners in this category. It was Libby's first time ever on skates and I'm not sure how she felt about it, but she had plenty of teachers to support her.
Nevertheless, the hot chocolate was free, the music was pumping and a good source of exercise for a Friday night. Skating IS fun! Of course many eyes rolled at Saif and Hong's late arrival and sorry excuse for not skating, and while there were many calls to count Saif as a "no show", we decided that if he'd just join us in the bar for a post skating drink, all would be forgiven.
The DJ skates keep the bar and restaurant open late and we walked right in, skates and all and ordered some hot coffee drinks with a little extra in them. It would be much tastier on a colder night I think, but we have two more DJ skates coming up!
