So I was right, Hockley Valley is beautiful in winter.(Even this winter). There was just enough snow on the ground to remind us this is a winter hike. But even with the freakish temperature this year, the trail can still surprise us. The entire trail is covered with rock hard ice, it was like an ice rink, but a hilly one. Luckily we all had icers, otherwise this hike would simply be impossible to do. Sometimes even our icers have hard time biting into the ice on steep hills. In such case, some of us would just sit on our butt and slide down the hill, and it worked great. At one point, when we hiked to the top of a hill, we saw a group of 9 deers running across a farm field. Was quite magical. All in all, an very interesting hike. My new favorate. Thanks to Monica and Anton for driving.
