I scream, you scream, we all scream for... GELATO!!
It was a gorgeous day in TO. Forecast was ridiculously hot, and while we did all seem to work up quite a sweat, the cloud cover for most of the day was extremely welcome for this bunch.
So here's the fun fact of the day: I had posted the entire hike, that is, leave from York Mills, get gelato, and end at Eglinton/Yonge all in ~12.7 km. But for some reason, but the time we reached the gelato store, we were already at 12.25km!! How was that possible? Well folks, you're gonna laugh (I hope)... I think that it was actually 12.7 miles, but I didn't switch the site I use to metric, sooo...
By the time we got back to Yonge / St. Clair (still 2 full subway stops from Eglinton) we logged close to 17.5 km! WAY TO GO EVERYONE!!
So, with my feet UP, and a glass of wine by my side, let's reminisce about gelato. Today's store had 50 flavours!!! The only complaint I heard was that there were too many choices. Karen and I went all out: 3 flavours in a sugar/waffle cone. The others had cups of varying sizes and flavours. My picks were coconut, banana and pineapple. The coconut I have found at other places, but the pineapple and banana were rare treats I've only seen at this store so far! From all accounts, the pistachio and nougat were also big hits.
Thanks everyone, for braving the hot summer day to enjoy one of the cities best gelatos with me! :)
Donatons: $5
p.s. I did walk back to York Mills for 23.9 km
