Sat, Jul 9 2011 - Cold Creek Conservation Area - part deux (View Original Event Details)

It was fabulous day for a return visit to Cold Creek Conservation Area! The place was deserted except for a couple walking their dogs… it felt like our own private wonderland at times!! It was the first time for most of the group so I had fun pointing out how different it was compared to the visit back in June. It was great to get a chance to enjoy the beautiful meadows (they were off limits last time due to the thunder and lightning overhead!). The grasses were tall and the farmer’s fields were lush and green. It was a little hotter this time, so bird sightings were sparse. There were some loud bullfrogs though, as we passed by a pond! When it came time for a break, we found a great spot near the bog walk, where we could stop and enjoy a light lunch. It was nicely shaded and relatively clear of lush vegetation so NO bugs pestered us while we ate. The group did a pretty good job of staying together and only once did the whistle need to be blown to round the troops back to a missed trail marker.
In a nutshell, the weather couldn’t have been more picture perfect!
