Write Up:
We started off our afternoon bicycle ride thinking that the multi-use pathway might be over-run with people on a beautiful, holiday Friday afternoon. Fortunately, a few kilometers into the ride, there were few people on the path other than us.

We rode north to the end of the Humber Valley trail, before looping back again south. Some of us took a brief stop at the Ukrainian Canadian Memorial Park on the way back, to read what was written on the monument.

En route, one person's bicycle started experiencing mechanical difficulties. Graciously, Laura and JP volunteered to act as mechanics to fix the bike. (Apparently, it was a very good quality bike but it had been poorly assembled & tuned up.) The rest of the group waited for a little while; we discovered that the bike issues were more complicated than a quick fix. Laura and JP decided to stay and fix the bike, and the rest of the group were given permission to finish up the ride.

The rest of the ride took the group down the lake, across the Humber bridge, along the lake, and through High Park. The wind had picked up quite a bit of speed as we rode along the lake, making that stretch a very challenging one. All in all, it was a good ride -- for some, it was the first bicycle ride of the season.

At the end of the day, we rode a total of 26.5 kilometres. It was a very invigorating bicycle ride.

After biking, some went out for food and drinks at Sharkey's in Bloor West Village. It was a delicious end to a nice afternoon.

And, a final note -- the summary of finances for the day -- total donations collected: $11.00. Thanks to all!
