Fri, Feb 2 2007, Sat, Feb 3 2007, Sun, Feb 4 2007 - Cabin Weekend - Tubing, Snow Shoeing & X-Country Skiing (View Original Event Details)
|
We were worried as the date approached that there wouldn’t be enough snow for the skiing, shoeing and tubing we had planned to do and were ready with alternatives if the need arose. About noon on the day we were to drive up it started snowing… Boy did it start snowing. By the time everyone arrived (Driving through white-out conditions at times) we had about 8cm of new snow, and by morning we were up to about 15cm.
It was incredible:
-The food was great
-The cabins turned out to be bigger & more luxurious than promised
-The conditions for all our planned activities couldn’t have been better
-We had candle-lit night skiing on a trail.
-We had a bon-fire marshmallow roast.
-We even had a bag lunch for the road after a fantastic hot brunch buffet on Sunday morning!!!
We broke up into smaller groups and did whatever we wanted (X-Country Skiing, Snowshoeing, Tubing, Big-Ball Volleyball (see pictures), but come meal-time there was never anyone absent.
Erik hereby gives Matt E the nickname of “20 to 3”, as that is the time Matt kept telling Hassan, Erik & Jenn was the time they kept the whole cabin up until playing Catan.
After a survey was conducted, it has been virtually unanimous that this should be an annual trip and that if we can also get booked in for Early September when the leaves are changing and we can still take out the canoes and go hiking or bushwacking, spots on the event will be popular.
