Fri, Jun 3 2011 - Scarborough Bluffs Part 1 - Victoria Park to Rosetta McClain Gardens (View Original Event Details)
|
- The entire hike took about one hour. - The trail of Fallingbrook to get down to the beach required going down on our bums for a small part.d - There are numerous streams and sewer outlets to the lake that had to be hopped or jumped across. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND DOING THIS HIKE IN THE RAIN OR AFTER A RAIN STORM. - The hike is mainly walking on the sand along the beach. Some parts had dirt walking trails and some parts that required walking on rocks. The trail to ascend near Kennedy Road is well maintained gravel. - This hike is quite grueling and unlike other urban hikes. I would recommend the difficult level stay the same as this event for those interested in doing this hike in the future. - The terrain on this hike includes: (1) A steep paved road off Glen Everest Road that leads down to the beach. (2) On we reach the bottom of the Scarborough Bluffs, our journey will lead us through a mixture of dirt trails, walking in the sand, walking along large wave barrier rocks, and climbing over debris from landslides. (3) The exit at the R.C. Harris Filtration Plant will require bending down to go through a hole-in-the-fence.
