Alison So sad that this was the last ski trip to amazing Kukagami Lodge. The Lodge has become the TOC's home away from home, we've had so many different types of trip there over the years. And all because Jenn M went there as a teenager with her family... How serendipitous is that! As always, Vicki and Allan were the most gracious of hosts, ignoring our little TOC family spats, and fully engaging with all guests, both old-timers and first-time visitors. Vicki has expanded her range of ceramics and is now making delightful bowls with a lovely mottled blue glaze - it was impossible not to come away without a couple of them stashed in my luggage. With great food (as always), better than expected snow conditions, good company, and no accidents, this year was truly a trip to remember. I just hope when the lodge is eventually sold, the new owners are as sympathetic to the environment, the lodge and the history of Kukagami as the current owners have been...

David I really enjoyed skiing in the various snow and weather conditions on the trails, the good conversations around the table during Viki’s fabulous meals, and the whole atmosphere that Viki, Al, and Kate create.

It was only after I had left the Lodge and had reentered life in Southern Ontario did I realize that I had not seen a car for almost 3 days while up at Kukagami!

I will surely miss the wonderful atmosphere the Mathers have created at Kukagami and hope that whoever buys the Lodge creates an equally wonderful environment.
Galina The 7 km ski to the lodge from the parking lot introduced us to the snow conditions on the forest trails of Kukagami. The next two days were spent at our leisure, skiing and snowshoeing the beautiful trails. Some of us even found time to hike out across the lake to hug the huge white pines of the old growth forest. The welcoming and hospitable hosts, the steaming sauna and the hearty and healthy home cooked meals helped to make this a memorable experience.

Rosemary Lovely stress-free weekend, greatly needed and totally enjoyed; even with my string of mechanical failures! This weekend proved that with a beautiful location, interesting personalities, great co-ordinators, inspiring hosts and perfect weather; even cold cabins and outhouses can be looked back on with some degree of fondness.
