The city of Toronto had little snow on this Saturday, and the day was boasting a high of 10 degrees, but there was lots of good snow at Snow Valley!

Twenty-five of us loaded up at Downsview subway station, and drove up to Snow Valley near Barrie; we met two more people at the event itself. The day was sunny and warm for early March, and it was a great day to be outside.

Our carpools arrived at different times, but we were all snow tubing by 10:30. Each person had their own individual snow tube, but when going down the groomed chutes, people often held onto other people's tubes -- so tended to go down in groups of 4, 5, or 6. Some of the staff at Snow Valley were great at spinning our tubes as they started us down the chutes us down, which made for a wild, and twisting slide down! There were lots of screams as groups went down.

After two hours of tubing, we took a break for lunch. Most of us were undecisive about what to do after our mid-day meal. The warmer weather had melted some of the snow, so it was still possible to snow shoe, but it was also possible to hike on the trails. It was also possible to go snow tubing again for another 2 hours.

In the end, the whole group started off on the trails -- some were hiking; others were snow shoeing.

On the trail, and at other points during the day, we ran into another outdoor group, who were calling themselves COWS (Canada Outdoor World Seekers). They had even posed for a photo of people lying down, and twisting themselves to spell out "MOO!" in the snow; at which point, some in our group tried to get people to spell out "TOC" in the snow, but alas, there was no luck in getting enough TOC people to do that. Perhaps people were feeling shy!

After hitting the trails, it was after 3:00, and so most people were ready to head home. One car (Andrew, Brian, Rui, and Simon) decided to stay and do some more snow tubing before leaving for the day.

It was a very fun day! We were very conscious that this might be one of the last days to go snow tubing this for the winter season, so we were delighted to have such a sunny day and the perfect weather to do this in. So, until next year!
