We met up at Kipling at 9:30. The day looked to be grey, with a chance of rain. Once everybody was accounted for, we headed out for the Short Hills. We started the hike around 11:30, still under mostly cloudy skies, and it wasn't long before we came to Swayze falls. We then continued on our trip, and around noon the skies started to clear. We passed some horse stalls, and broken picknic tables. The trail got a little muddy in places to the glee of our two canine companions. We arrived at the second falls around 1pm, and had lunch. Gary got us all together for a great group shot. After lunch we hiked on beautiful blue skies with full sun, a rare event in early November. We passed a few groups of hikers, some more than once. We kept hearing the bird scare cannons for the vineyards, and finally we passed a field of grapes still on the vine. Around 3pm we got back to the cars, for a total estimated hike of 14kms. We finished off with a beer and a meal at Boston Pizza, before heading back to Kipling. Thanks for a great hike to all who came.
