Well it was an overcast fall kind of day and we’re off to the Collinwood area to do some tree top walking and Ziplining. We started off with a quick lunch at the Red Hen restaurant in Collinwood. Fully fueled we headed out to Eco Adventure to get outfitted in our safety harness gear. A short tractor wagon ride brought us to the practice area, where we paired up and practiced our lock and unlocking our safety straps. The tree-top walk was high among 200 year-old oak trees, up to 20 meters above the ground. The treetop walk took us 600 meters across 2x10 inch wide boards suspended as close to the treetops at cartoon like angles. The sway of the walkways and cables causes you to constantly re-adjust your balance, and you become aware of your own courage. Treetop walking certainly delivers a thrill. You end the treetop walk with a ride on a 330 foot zip line to return to the ground. Some of us we’re looking for more excitement and ended up inverted(but that’s a personnel choice). Down the trail we were greeted by a view from the edge of the escarpment. Our guides (Kristen and Megan) gave us a brief history lesson and story about the local native people from Signal Point. Down below we can see the caverns that we’re hoping to explore later on. Are you ready for the 1000 foot zipline? YES IM READY!. We all made it down. We got a little rain but nothing that would stop us doing anything. Just enough to wet the wagon ride seats. Check out the photos. Our evening ended at a local pub for supper and followed with a two hour drive back to Toronto. PS. The next part of the tour which involved the suspension bridge and cave explore was cancelled due to Eco Adventure organizational challenges. As of the date of this report, the organization has been connected and requested to provide a partial refund. I’ll let you know what happens.
