Write Up:
We had a very good walk and with a lot of excitement and unexpected situations. The weather clear up just in time to start our hike. We started a little bit late, about 11am, because the driving to the start point (to drop off one of the cars) took more that expected! (1 hour) and consequently finish even later! The first 11k section has a lot of road walking but goo for warm out. The next 12k are very adventurous, a lot of swam and not too much space or even visibility (specially for the short ones ); this section ends in a rail track where it can be difficult to follow the white masks (if you don’t have the Ganaraska trail instructions) . The next section (12k) continues in the same rail tracks almost all the time and ends with a road walking. Brooke was leading the group with such a good pace that everybody lost her in the last section! One part of the group stayed behind and decided to follow the Oxfam trail to catch up with the others. This trail follows the road and not the rail track and we passing by an intersection when there was a big collision just in front of some of us. Fortunately no one either hikers or drivers/passengers were seriously injured at that time. We waited to give the statement to the police and then we had to ask for a ride to New Lowell Conservation Area. It was fun to know that is prohibited ask fro a ride but the police still allowed us to do it :-D. Finally the trucks that carry the crashed cars gave us the ride half-way and we managed to get a second one to the end point (with a police officer’s wife!)
