Write Up:
When eleven of us met up in the morning of Feb 21 we were all looking forward to a great day of cross-country skiing. Although a snag on the way up (a major accident right in front of 2 of the three cars) delayed us by about a half hour, we all arrived at Hardwood Hills ready to hit the trails. We split up into groups based on our abilities. The trails at Hardwood are named after cities where past Winter Olympics have been held. I did the Salt Lake City loop and the conditions and hills were amazing!! Most people met up again for lunch at the cafeteria for an afternoon break. After lunch, I met up with David, Nancy, and Ken, who were doing the Vancouver loop for a second time that day. With them, I finally managed to get up the courage to ski down the hills in the ski tracks instead of snow plowing all the way down. We all met back at the chalet at 4:30 pm in good spirits after a great day of skiing. Unfortunately, on the way home, we hit a bit of a snow storm, but our awesome drivers (Margaret, Peter, and Dan) got us all back into town safe and sound. Thank you to everyone for coming out on my first event as a volunteer!!
