The day was sunny, but there was a coolness in the air, and it was windy. But when we got to the boardwalk, the wind died down and the sun was warm and the water looked clean and inviting. Rocky frolicked in both dog beaches, and since Jen, Eric, Perkin and Alan had not been to the Beaches before, Tracey and I were able to explain some of the history and things 'not to miss' in the beaches -or 'The Beach' , officially. We started from the corner of Coxwell and Eastern, and walked across the park that was formerly Greenwood racetrack, headed to Ashbridges Bay, and walked in a leisurely procession down the boardwalk. The beaches were not busy at all, so we had plenty of room. We stopped for a while on Woodbine Beach to let Rocky play with a Husky pal, and Alan took pictures. Then we continued all the way down to Balmy Beach and Frank caught up with us the end of the Boardwalk. Then we walked up Beech rd to Queen St E, and walked down the street to get some ice cream at Ben & Jerry's, back to the boardwalk and Queen and Kingston Rd. We discovered that nearly 50% of our group are engineers. Perkin gave us the scoop on San Francisco (and he's the second club member from San Fran I met this weekend!). And Tracey informed us that her son came in third place in his dragon boat race that day! All in all, we spent 3 hours in the Beaches and I couldn't think of a more wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon!
