Write Up:
A rowdy group of gamesters gathered in the upstairs room of the Yellow Griffin and set to with Scrabble, Poker, Gin Rummy, Taboo and other games, spread across several tables. The beer flowed, the mood was cheerful, and it appeared to this observer that a good time was had by all.
Alison foolishly offered to teach poker to Sam, Pat and Lydia, ably assisted by Pedro. Pat and Lydia were a couple of dark horses, and wiped the floor with Alison and Sam, who ended up on the sidelines, penniless observers. Pedro held his own, and although we didn't actually tally up at the end of the evening, he appeared to be a few green chips ahead of Pat.
Much hooting and hollering was coming from the Taboo table, where at least six members were doing their best to describe objects while avoiding all proscribed words - not an easy task apparently!
Peter and Irene started the evening at the Scrabble board, and were fairly quickly joined by Luanne and Ruth.
There was a fourth games group going great guns at yet another game, but this observer was unable to determine the name of that game. However, at least four, and possibly six members were gathered the board, intently staring at the combinations of cards that were being played, and cheering with great enthusiasm. Note to self - find out what was being played...
Judging by the number of people who came out, the games nights are clearly popular so look for future events of this nature
