The rain/snow storm warning and the gusty wind did not stop these brave TOC members from hiking the Toronto Island Park. We headed down to Ward Island, the only ferry service during the winter season. Near the Pier there was no service to attend our Nature's call, and looking for a shelter to be away from the gusty winds to have our snacks was almost non existent. Painstakingly we made our way to Hanland Point where to our good fortune, the washroom facilities were open. We rushed to have some lunch and headed back to Ward Island. Perhaps some people thought we were out of our mind to be hiking with this kind of weather, but we were amazed to see three daring kayakers on Lake Ontario trying to surf along the high waves. We finished at Ward Island right on time to take the ferry back to Toronto. I wish to thank you all for attending my volunteer's initiation event. You all were great company!!
