LL Cool J 'Mama Said Knock You Out' -

Don't u neva, eva, pull my lever Cuz I explode And my nine is easy to load I gotta thank God Cuz he gave me the strength to rock HARD!! knock you out, mama said knock you out

Well I don't know if my 'nine' was easy to load but it sure was easy to fire. What a great event, we had a large, enthusiastic bunch of TOCers for this one. Hardly any of us had handled firearms before so we were nervous but excited too.

The location itself is an unassuming, industrial type setting. However, even from outside the building you could hear the shots ring out.

The event was really well organized by the range staffers. It also helped that we got there early 'cause the turnout was huge. A chart listed the different caliber Glock handguns that were available to fire. Everything from a 9MM similar to law enforcement types to a hand canon 357.

We got our safety glasses and protective earwear. Then we entered the shooting gallery in small groups through a set of double doors. Once inside we were each paired with an instructor who patiently took the time to explain all the important elements when handling guns.

Then it was go time, you line up the paper target in your sights and steady your breathing. Finally you, gently, squeeze the trigger. Boom, neat!

The location even provided chips, burgers, hot dogs, veggies, and drinks for us to enjoy. It was so popular that I'm going to organize a return visit exclusively for TOC members in the near future, stay tuned.

I'm still not convinced that the average citizen should have firearms at home. However, the event gave me new respect for the challenges faced by Police Officers when it comes time to draw their weapons and make the difficult decision to shoot.
