Blind line and Brittania Rd to Nassagaweya Canyon. Distance-25.7km Duration-5:11 Who needs a map?, let's just keep going! Ok so technically I did say I might extend this hike to the north of calcium pits, and did so incidentally when 15km of hiking didn't yield any pits, or unusual amounts of calcium that I could see. It was interesting though we came across a replica of an Iroquoain (pronunciation up for debate still, 4 vowels in a row is wild and the more I try to say it the more I think I'm getting a speech impediment) indian village. We spent a bit of time at the reconstructed village with a very very knowledgeable and friendly worker named Lorraine, who was more than eager to speak about the areas history and archaeological analysis of crawford lake. She became less eager when she found out via walkie talkie that one of the members of a tour group required an ambulance due to an allergic reaction to a bee sting (the most serious of 4, count them 4, that I heard about on the day), alas our discussion came to an end rather (understandably) quickly. We ended up doing almost 26 km in rainy and cloudy weather but everyone was accomodating and I think we all enjoyed the challenge and felt good if not exhausted after the trek. I can't count the times I heard this same conversation... Susie: "Gary how far does your GPS say we've gone?" Gary: "I'll be able to tell you accurately in just a few moments" Granted the GPS did come in handy and lended us some valuable information. Thank you everyone and hope to see you again soon.
