Write Up:
What a gorgeous day for a hike in the woods! The temperature was perfect - comfortable, with some nice breezes on the higher parts of the trail. We had some difficulty getting started as some of our group were held up getting to Downsview and two got lost never to join us today (who knew there were TWO sideroad 27s???) but we were overjoyed to gain Afra and Saif, who had missed Mihal's group's departure.

Once we were on the trail we enjoyed seeing the blooming periwinkle and trilliums, the occasional chipmunk and a grass snake. The trail was moderate, with a few rocky stretches that tested our mountain goat feet. The blackflies were out in the lower (i.e., swampy) part of the trail and volunteered themselves as lunch partners. Linda's now missing some flesh thanks to her tiny friends. Needless to say, lunch was a quick affair.

We ran into Mihal's group a few times, and felt we acquitted ourselves well for the slowpoke group. Saif was seduced by a mysterious ladder so joined up with Mihal's group. Afra, Frank, Chris and Jo formed a "we've got SOME spunk" subgroup and finished the hike via the quarry loop, climbing and then descending a steep and totally unnecessary rocky rise just to challenge ourselves further :) (note: don't follow the pink ribbons - stick to the blue and white blazes!).

After the hike most of the group met for refreshments at a coffee shop. Then it was back to the city to enjoy the rest of this beautiful day .
