It's an unforgetable experience, in the beautiful capital city with historical buildings and numorous tulips, betting on the weather: To go or not to go? Fortunately we still managed to fulfill most of our travel plans and certainly had much fun.
Hot spots: 1, Weather, weather! It rained cats and dogs in the night on our way to Ottawa, a priceless practising opportunity for new drivers as Coco (quotes from Jae). Saturday was cloudy and windy, yet the rain stopped! So we went to Dows Lake and Parliament Hill. Saif, Jae and Coco wandered around the downtown area afterwards. It rained again Sunday, after discussion, we got the consensus to go to the Major's Hill Park as planned. Despite of the light rain, we enjoyed ourselves in pavilions of different cultures: Japanese, Dutch, Turkish, Thai and Chinese. So many choises of Mother's Day gift and Tulip Festival souvenir, we had losts of fun shopping. And it's wonderful that the Taiwan folk dance show was on as scheduled, we really enjoyed that!
2, High tech on the road! Frank has a GPS system with a gentle lady's voice to tell the directions, so convenient and interesting that we all LOVE & LAUGH Ms. GPS a lot! With wireless internet access, super small size laptop and powerful cell phone/ PDA, you bet Frank is armed to the teeth of high tech equipments! As a user of Microsoft Strees & Trips, Coco acted as a coordinator for navigation. Our group can go to any corner of this world, finding whatever we want without getting lost!
3, Pictures! As professional photographers, Marcos and Jae surely took many good pictures. Yet due to the lack of sunshine, GREAT pictures couldn't be produced... Marcos was upset somehow and he'll try next year, for a beautifully sunny Tulip Festival. Coco and Marianna had lots of fun testing their shooting skills, as well as other members of the group. You really should check our album to see how amazing those flowers are!
4, Coco's mistake! Coco tried to give Frank and Marcos good rest by assigning them a twin room with bath, yet on the website of the B&B, that room turned out to be a queen bed room instead of a twin bed room as indicated by the booking centre. Coco assumed that Frank and Marcos must checked the website too before they agreed the arrangement. That's not the case! After a disturbing night, we got an extra room to separate the two poor guys. Coco learned a lesson from it: never take a chance, just communicate whenever situation changes!
We also have stories about eating: Ottawa has the delicious doughnut Beavertails as a touristy fun. Before seeing it, Marianna asked, what do they do with the rest of the beavers? :)) And the lunch at Major's Hill Park, you've never seen so many people standing around an ATM to have their lunch! Our breakfasts were accompanied by interesting conversations, with such a diversified group, everyone had something to offer!
