Write Up:
The lesson got off a bit late, but once it got going it seemed to have gone fairly well. At one point while we were climbing we heard some clapping and cheering coming from the lesson area. We’d never heard anything like that before, so we turned to see what was going on. While everyone else was in the ground clapping, Claricia was being lowered from the top of the wall by someone else. We could only assume she struggled to get up there and the group was being encouraging. I asked her about it after, but she was so wrapped up in the moment she was barely aware of it while it was happening, so she didn’t know that much more about it than we did.

I’d like to welcome some of our newest members for which this was their 1st event: Amy, Wilson, Will and Nick. It was a pleasure meeting you all and I hope you had a good time at the event. Every once in a while, a new climber comes along who displays above average natural talent, who makes by-standers ask “how long have they been climbing?”. Wilson was one of those people on this event. He really made it look easy and it was evident that this would not be his last day climbing. Will & Nick also did well, progressively getting higher and higher, and eventually venturing into the regular climbs, and if I may say so myself, I got me an amazing picture of Nick climbing (Show that baby off to your friends man, let them know you’re a rock climber now).

The regular core group of climbers behaved themselves… for the most part: I got a chance to finally hang out with my furry little friend Christina again; I finally caught on that Sharon has an uncanny ability to avoid having her picture taken (I’ve been fooled for the last time!); Dave fought the pain of his injuries bravely (even though it’s just a finger, for a climber that’s bad); Also, I don’t want to mention any names, but one of my future neighbors showed up really late, and then was looking at me funny like it was my fault when it was time to head to the BBQ, go figure! And even though 5 to 6 weeks have passed, it appears Lisa’s search for a new 5.10 continues. Tune in after the next event, I’ll let you know how that’s going…

So at 2:30pm we headed off to Dave’s for the BBQ, with a few more then we anticipated. Lucky for me, Lisa & Pia pretty much took over organizing and did an amazing job delegating and coordinating people. So we headed off to Dave’s and spent most of the afternoon eating and socializing. I heard somebody said that this was the best climbing event yet, and then I heard another, and then another person say the same thing. Really we owe this event to Dave for having us over and for being such a great host.

I also noticed that the turnout for this event was a bit higher then usual. The lesson that I’ve learned from it is: it never hurts to put pictures of hot blondes in your event description.
