The day started with a light rain, but it didn’t stop seven determined TOC members from going out to hike and challenge nature. We started out by gathering at Downsview station, and Min, our event coordinator, was highly visible with her brighter than bright yellow rain attire.

The hike was 5k as described in the event; making it a nice hike especially for beginners.

This was my fourth outing with TOC and although I have been to Mount Nemo before, I nevertheless enjoyed the breathtaking lookouts especially the Harris lookout, where you can see part of Milton and Rattlesnake Point and the surrounding land. Like a painting, every time you look at it, you see or find something different that you have never seen before.

The hike was a very nice pace with lots to see, including some turkey vultures. The trail was pretty easy going in most places and overall the hike was a very comfortable pace making it easy to stop and smell the roses.

At the mid way point we walked down into an abandoned quarry to the surprise of a pair of nesting Canadian Geese.

When I looked down I discovered my hiking boots were covered in mud but it didn’t matter because that is what being outdoor is all about.

Thanks to Min for coordinating.
