It was a terrific trip, and it felt great to exchange the concrete and the noise of Toronto for the woods and the waters of Arrowhead. The campfire sessions proved to be great opportunities to learn more about each other, from our takes on spirituality to hilarious tales of failed and successful attempts at debauchery. We even managed to include a game of Balderdash (thanks Elliott!). On our last night there, the campfire session turned into a mid-night excursion down to the lake to check out the stars and the moon-lit clouds in the beautiful night sky, and to take a late-night swim as well.
Highlights of this trip for me had to be the waters of Arrowhead. On Saturday, Elliott and I ventured out in one canoe, while Sarah, Katy and Wei-Lin paddled out in another. We started out separately, but managed to find each other on the river. Most of the day was spent paddling up-stream, to be broken occasionally by refreshing dips in the river or to snack. Much of Sunday was spent swimming in the lake, resting on its beach, or taking a short hike. On Monday, once we had packed everything up, we spent some time in the lake for one last time, said our see-you-soons, and then made our trek back to the big city and the surreal world. Another fine TOC excursion!
