HIKE DETAILS:

We do a Forest Trail Hop - kind of like a bar hop, but with icers and not alcohol.

  • 1st Stop: Beeton Forest..I read that there are about 6 km easy trails though mature forest. I've never been here before, so it will be a true exploration.
  • 2nd Stop: Simcoe County Forest Tottenham Tract.. sounds smaller than Beeton, perhaps 2-3 km of trails. I never been here before either.
  • 3rd Stop: Cold Creek Conservation is one of my favourite Conservation areas. It's a beautiful place and we will hike The outer loop trail which is 6.6 km, as conditions permit

Objective is to enjoy the nature, fill our lungs with clean, crisp air, while enjoying the snow covered landscapes, etc. You need to have ICERS with you on this hike. Hiking boots are a must. Gaiters and/or snow shoes would be useful for deep snow. Hiking pace around 4 km/hr depending on trail conditions. Should there be a big dumping of fresh snow, snow shoes may be useful.

We will hike as a group, and thus, wait as necessary for everyone. I am a slow hiker, pausing frequently to take photos so If you think you'll have uncontrollable urges to be constantly on the move or to sprint ahead, this is NOT an event for you. Speedsters will be put at the back of the line.

Please ensure you can hike the distance over the deep snow or on icy trails (icers/crampons are required), and at the specified pace BEFORE you sign up.

Additional participants will be added as car pool drivers become available.

NOTE it's a Sunday Departure: If you're travelling by TTC to the carpool location, you're responsible for taking into consideration the TTC schedule, any service disruptions, etc in order to arrive on time. We will hike snow or shine.
