Itinerary:
Believe it or not, May 14th is the 365 day (or 1 year) anniversary of the first Hike For A Slice event which, not surprisingly, was also my first event as a TOC co-ordinator. To commemorate this momentous occasion, we are going to re-live the original Hike For A Slice.

We will meet at Eglinton West Station and follow this route:
• West along the Beltline trail to the end
• South along some neighbourhood streets and parks
• South through Prospect Cemetary and Earlscourt Park
• West through Pelham Park neighbourhood
• South along the West Toronto Railpath to Bloor & Dundas
• Head to a nearby pizza joint for a slice (if you wish)

Route Rundown:
Distance: 9.5km
Pace: Between 4.5 - 5.0 km/h
Expected Time: 2 - 2.5 hours + pizza time
Trails: Entirely paved trails and sidewalks
Terrain: Some rolling sections, and a few small hills

Following the hike I will take anyone so inclined to a local pizza joint for a slice, but this part of the event is optional. This is one of my top five slice joints so you won't want to miss it. It features rather large slices of medium thick pizza with a fairly chewy crust. They have four different varieties including one vegetarian option, but be warned that the vegetarian option is spicy! To my regular Slice Hikers, this place raised their prices a bit since last year, so you will need $6 for a slice. Still worth it if you ask me.

See the map below for the rough hiking route. Click the points for transit information.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Eglinton West Subway Station is located on the University-Spadina Subway (also known as Line 1) at the corner of Eglinton Ave W & Allen Rd. We will meet inside the main entrance, look for me with a Blue Jays cap and a black packback.

Notes:
Please plan to arrive before the posted start time, we will be leaving immediately at 4:30pm. I will turn my phone off once we begin, so any calls or messages will likely not be returned until the end of the hike.

The hike will go forward rain or shine or snow. A high risk of a thunderstorm (80%+) 24 hours prior may result in postponement or cancellation.
