Itinerary:
It's a Halloween Humber Hike! Costumes are optional.

Recently I've decided to challenge myself to hike some greater distances, so I figured a good way to do that would be to hike the Humber River Trail.

We will meet at Steeles Ave W & Kipling Ave, head half a block east to the Humber River Trail and hike south to Old Mill Station. Pretty straight forward. We will take a 25-30 minute lunch break at Lion's Park around the 14km mark, otherwise we will be hiking at a moderate steady pace with few, if any, stops. We should be finished by mid-afternoon, leaving plenty of time to go trick or treating.

Route Rundown:
Distance: 23.0km
Pace: Maintain about 5.0km/h throughout
Expected Time: 5 - 6 hours including lunch break
Trails: Mostly paved trails with a few dirt/gravel paths. Good runners will be okay for this hike.
Terrain: Generally flat, although there are a few rolling sections, some small hills, and a few staircases.

PLEASE READ:
This is a D4 hike because of the distance we will be covering and because we will be hiking constantly with very few, if any, stops other than the lunch break. If you are unable to hike a solid moderate pace for the entire distance, please don't sign up for this hike. We will not be waiting for stragglers! You have been warned.

Please plan to arrive before the posted start time, we will be leaving immediately at 10:00am. If you are taking the TTC, give yourself plenty of time, this is not the easiest location to get to because it will involve buses. I will turn my phone to silent once we begin the hike, so any calls or messages will likely not be returned until the end of the hike.

This hike will go forward rain or shine. A high risk of a thunderstorm (80%+) 24 hours prior to the hike may result in postponement or cancellation. There are no washrooms at the starting point (that I know of). There are a few outhouses at the lunch location.

See map below for start/end points and the rough hiking route. Click the points on the map for transit information.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:We will meet at northwest corner of the intersection of Steeles Ave W & Kipling Ave which has a Petro Canada gas station (see Google Street View below).

There are two TTC bus routes that service this intersection:
The 45A KIPLING bus from Kipling Station on the Bloor-Danforth Subway (also known as Line 2). Disembark at Steeles Ave. Make sure you get on the 45A, not 45B.
The 60B or 60D STEELES WEST bus from Finch Station on the Yonge Subway (also known as Line 1). Disembark at Kipling Ave. Make sure you get on either the 60B or 60D, not 60C or 60F.

There are no designated parking areas nearby (that I know of).
