Itinerary:

Scramble??

This D4 event has nothing to do with eggs.

This D4 (four) hike is not long or fast.
It is a D4 because we will be scrambling up and down VERY STEEP HILLS,
(you may have to grab trees on the way up and down),
and hopping from rock to rock to cross the creek.
Forget the bridges!
The scrambling may or may not be on paths!

We will be hiking to Wilket Creek Park and scrambling up and down very steep hills, sometimes on rocky and rooty paths, sometimes making our own paths. We'll be crossing the creek by hopping rock to rock. If you think urban hikes are tame and lame, this hike will change your mind. I don't know exactly which hills or how many hills, we'll figure that out on the fly.

We'll cover about 15km, maintaining a moderate pace of about 5.0 - 5.5 km/h.

We'll start at Lawrence Subway Station, and end at Lawrence Subway Station.

Don't get left behind! Please arrive early, we will start promptly, and I will turn off my cell once we begin hiking.

This is the route we will take.

  • Start at Lawrence subway station, (S.E. corner of Yonge St & Lawrence Ave)
  • east through various parks to Wilket Creek Park
  • do some scrambling
  • stop for a short snack break along the creek
  • west through various parks
  • End at Lawrence subway station

Everyone starts on the waiting list.
This event is restricted to experienced hikers who are very steady on their feet, like a mountain goat!
If you have not been on a hike with me, please tell me about your hiking experience in the notes when you sign up.
