HUMBER / WATERFRONT LOOP (wheat beer)

MMM ...A YEAR OF BEER! Well if I'm the Evil Wicked Beer Witch I guess I should run some beer hikes..! There are about 25-30 pubs in the city that have great list of taps featuring beer brewed locally in small batches using traditional methods. So vaguely, the plan is to slowly check them out one by one, along with any interesting nearby foodie places. There are about 25 different styles of beer so we'll focus on a different one each time for those who want to learn a bit more about beer. It will probably take the best part of a year, but it's all good :)

You don't HAVE to come to the pub afterwards, however you should let me know in advance and be prepared to give up your spot to someone who does, as the pub stop is part of the event. All the foodie places we visit will have vegetarian options, any other food restrictions you better ask. And if you want to meet us directly at the pub, and are willing to save us seats, that may sometimes be an option....

Each hike will be about 10km or so and should take us about 2-2.5 hours max, so that we have stopped for some food and are at the pub by 9:30pm.

For our first hike we'll meet outside Old Mill station and follow this route:
  1. Start at Old Mill Subway Station. Meet by the turnstiles.
  2. South along the Humber to the lake
  3. East to High Park via the Waterfront trail
  4. Northeast through the Park to the main gates
  5. Detour for yummy Chinese takeout
  6. head to pub, talk about wheat beers

Total Distance 11KM. We will walk at a decent pace of 5.0 km per hour mostly along paved paths so be prepared to stick with the group. (No racing ahead as I won't be chasing after anyone who gets lost).

DOGS: Dogs are an important part of any hike, especially a beer hike. In fact, in some parts of the world, "walking the dog" or "taking the dog out" is a euphemism for going to the pub. However, not all the places we visit may be so dog friendly so you better check with me.

No Shows: If you can't make it please play fair and remove yourself from the event ASAP so the waiting list moves. Anyone cancelling after the cut off time will receive a No Show.
