Itinerary:
Chi-running.

I happened across this book at the Toronto Public Library. The book is called "ChiRunning: a revolutionary approach to effortless, injury-free running" by Dreyer. It's hard to find a copy at the library these days because there is a workshop on March 24th in Toronto (http://www.chirunning.com/). Although I will probably not be attending the workshop because of the cost, I would like to practice some of the chirunning principles. Such simple things as shifting your weight forward to gain momentum and just using your feet to catch yourself (instead of propelling with them) make a big difference while running/walking. A lot of the principles in chirunning/chi-walking are also useful for backpacking/hiking.

If you are interested in running you can come to these runs even if you are not chi-running. Of course if you are familiar at chi-running I would be interested in any tips and instruction. Please note though that as I haven't been running for many years, I will be starting very lightly (but regularly) at first. There will be an emphasis on tweaking a running form and building up endurance gradually. At first I will only be jogging for half an hour a couple times a week after work at a very relaxed pace.

There is a track around the soccer field at Riverdale park. Until I build up enough stamina to handle significant distances and uneven terrain I would like to stick to a track so I can monitor my progress and concentrate on form. We can also try different tracks and other days/times.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:As you come down Broadview Ave from the Danforth Broadview Subway Station look to the setting sun in the west. You will see a big park. Pass the tennis courts and keep looking down into the valley. You will see a soccer field with goal posts and a track running around it. There might be an upside down bicycle with a bag and jacket next to the track. This is where I will be running.
