Itinerary:
To ride on this event you MUST answer the following questions in the AFFIRMATIVE. You can do so by copying and pasting the questions into the notes sections of the sign up page:
Chuck and I have been thinking about trying this ride using the GO train for a while now.
We will travel through suburban Whitby and then ride north into the countryside. We will arrive in Port Parry on the shores of Lake Scugog, where we will find a place to eat our lunch. While in Port Perry, we can scout out beaches to swim from next summer (for the modified triathlon including cycling, swimming and eating!) It will probably be too cold to swim now.
I have plotted a route that, with the exception of a couple of short stretches, should follow relatively low traffic roads. According to my map book, which is usually right, almost all of the route should be along paved roads. There will probably be a few hills along the way, though I do not know how steep they will be.

We would get to Union Station at 9:50am (the subway starts at 9am on Sundays) to buy tickets and take the GO train leaving at 10 13 am (sometimes there is a line up to buy tickets and so you do need to arrive some minutes before the train leaves) We will buy return tickets and use the elevator to get our bikes to the platform. Ideally, there should only be a maximum of 4 bikes to a carriage, two at each end. Bikes are places behind and in front of the 2 vertical steel poles, next to the seats as you walk in the door. Please allow passengers to get on board first. The train arrives at Whitby GO at 11:01 am
It should be possible to meet us at or near the GO Station in Whitby. I am not sure about parking at the GO Station, but can find out and let you know

We will return to Toronto on either of the trains leaving Whitby at 17: 47 or 18: 47 and arrive at Union Station at 18:40 or 19:40. My hunch is we would catch the later train. The sunsets around 6:30pm on Oct 16. Therefore everyone must bring your bike lights. In fact, it can really beautiful to ride along the shore of Lake Ontario near Whitby near sunset. And so we could end up on the 19:47 train out of Whitby and arrive at Union at 20:40.

And again, to ride on this event you MUST answer the following questions in the AFFIRMATIVE. You can do so by copying and pasting the questions into the notes sections of the sign up page:

2. Are you experienced, comfortable, and safe riding in traffic i.e. with automobiles?
3. Are you able to bring a spare tube for your bicycle?
4. Does your bicycle fit properly?
5. Is your bicycle in decent shape ie no rusty chain, tired inflated, working brakes etc.?
6. Do you agree to bring a bicycle light?
