Itinerary:

Long day of work at the office? Feeling tense from sitting in a chair all day? Want to give your body a great physical challenge? Let your legs fly and come with me for an after work, evening run!

This 10 KM run exploits many of the great park trails in central Toronto, including Roycroft Park, Sir Winston Churchill Park, Cedarvale Park, and finally, the Kay Gardner Beltline Trail.

We start at Dupont subway station (on the Spadina line) and end at St. Clair subway station (on the Yonge line). The basic route is (click here for an interactive map of the route):

  • Run east on Dupont to Davenport
  • Run north on Davenport to Boulton Drive, continue north to the entrance to Roycroft Park.
  • Follow the Roycroft Park trail all the way to St. Clair West near Bathurst.
  • Cross St. Clair West, head up Tweedsmuir to the entrance to Cedarvale Park.
  • Follow the Cedarvale Park trail all the way to the corner of Allen Road and Eglinton West.
  • Follow the trail on the side of Allen Road to the beginning of the Kay Gardner Beltline Trail.
  • Follow the Kay Gardner Beltline Trail all the way to Yonge St.
  • South on Yonge St. to St. Clair and Yonge.

We will be running at a pace averaging 6 minutes per kilometer (or 10 km/hr). This is a reasonable and realistic running pace for anyone who has basic fitness and prior running experience. This run is not intended for absolute beginners. You should be confident in your ability to run 5 KM to attempt this 10 KM run. - Please get in touch with me if you have concerns about your ability to complete this event.

We will run as a group as much as possible during the run. As people run at naturally different paces, we will probably spread out over the course of the run, but we will always aim to keep each other in sight.

Because the route passes by multiple subway stations, there will be several opportunities for participants to drop out if they cannot keep up with the group or cannot finish the full distance - St. Clair West station is at the 2 KM mark; Eglinton West station is at the 5 KM mark; and Davisville Station is at the 9 KM mark.

NOTE: This run will go on rain or shine. The only reason for cancellation will be if there is a projected chance of a thunderstorm. I will check for this on Monday. Please check your email the morning of the event. Also note, I will not have my cell phone with me during this event. I will have it until approximately 15 minutes prior to the start of the run. So please arrive on time.
