Itinerary:

Are you ready for an outdoor adventure? Come and explore Georgian Bay, Key and Pickerel Rivers.

It is a paddler's paradice. The remoteness of the area has kept it largely undeveloped. On many of the islands, you may pull your boat ashore and climb the barren rounded hilltops to admire the view - always a dazzling panorama that includes either the broad expanse of Georgian Bay or the deep cuts along the river.

We will depart from Downsview on Friday morning at 8AM and will be driving up to Key Marina. Be prepared for a 3 day trip exploring the partially sheltered waters of Georgian Bay. We will be covering ~60 km in total. About ~20 km a day at a casual steady pace(5 km/hr). Be prepared for about 5-6 hours of paddling per day. We will be camping on crown land and in the French River Provincial Park. The planned route will start at Key River Marina on highway 69 and head west to Georgian Bay. Day 2 will be devoted to exploring the sheltered islands and east channel of the Pickerel River delta. Day 3 will be our return trip along the Pickerel River.

This trip is open to intermediate and advance experience canoeing individuals only. There are short sections of big Georgian Bay water that we may have to traverse to enter the protected waters of the islands. There will be some portaging. Maybe some upstream river lining and pond jumping? This is a flat water trip.

Please provide a brief summary of your canoeing/interior camping experience to be considered/accepted on this trip.
