Itinerary:
Help me celebrate International Trails Day!

I have no link to support my claim that June 4 is International Trails Day; I can't find any official website validating its actual existence. But there are an awful lot of sites that refer to it nonetheless. So we'll join the ranks and just "make it so".

Let's discover the trails at Cold Creek Conservation Area together. "A portion of the property lies within the “Natural Linkage” policy area of the Oak Ridges Moraine." The trail goes through various forests, wetlands and a meadow. Over 100 birds have been identified at Cold Creek, including Great Blue Heron, American Kestrel, 3 kinds of owls, and Kingfisher.

The total hike for the day will be approx 9 km. We'll be hiking at a moderate pace of around 4.5 km.

This is neither a slowpokes nor a power hike. I will allow for some picture taking, but this is not a "photo hike" either.

Last warning: Whoever did come up with International Trails Day doesn't live in Ontario, that's my guess… cuz it's going to be black fly season. Which is actually why I don't want to go too slow on this hike. Those little guys are annoying. We'll know a lot closer to the date how bad they might be, and I'll let everyone know just how much I recommend a bug hat!

If there is interest, we'll go to Montana's for a drink on the way back.
